Crystel’s Q+A

What made you want to work with BYSSI?

“I was introduced to BYSSI through my work with Roots Community Services. I was impressed by their ability to provide Black students with meaningful opportunities and access to services and resources that weren’t readily available and/or accessible to them. BYSSI was able to bridge the gap in services by bringing together organizations and community agencies to provide wraparound supports for Black students in Peel. Seeing the incredible work being done, I wanted to be a part of their goal to support 500 students in achieving graduation rates on par with the Regional average.”

What do you enjoy about working with BYSSI youth & families?

“I've enjoyed supporting youth in being successful both academically and within their own personal development. During my time as an animator I’ve assisted students in: preparing for post-secondary education, securing job and volunteer opportunities, improving academics, developing life skills among other things. It’s very rewarding work.”
